The Nashville Predators take on the Carolina Hurricanes in NHL action from the PNC Arena on Saturday night.
The Nashville Predators will look to rebound from a 4-1 loss to the Hurricanes in their last matchup. Filip Forsberg leads the Predators in scoring with 29 points including a team-high 11 goals and 18 assists while Roman Josi has 27 points with a team-high 22 assists. Viktor Arvidssso has 24 points with 10 goals and 14 assists while Calle Jarnkrok and Mikael Granlund each have 11 goals and Eell Toivanen has 10 goals this season. As a team, Nashville is averaging 2.6 goals on 29.9 shots with a 19.8% success rate on the PP while allowing 2.8 goals on 30.7 shots with a 74.6% success rate on the PK this season.
The Carolina Hurricanes will look to build on yet another victory over Nashville last time out. Sebastian Aho leads the Hurricanes in scoring with 29 points including a team-high 18 goals and 21 assists while Vincent Trocheck has 36 points with 17 goals and 19 assists. Dougie Hamilton has 34 points with a team-high 28 assists and 139 shots on goal while Martin Necas, Jordan Staal, Andrei Svechnikov and Nino Niederreiter all have double-digit goals and assists this season. As a team, Carolina is averaging 3.1 goals on 32.3 shots with a 28.2% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.4 goals on 28.3 shots against with an 83.3% success rate on the penalty kill this season.
Nashville is 11-3 in their last 14 games overall and 5-2 in their last 7 games as a road underdog while the under is 5-2-4 in their last 11 games overall. Carolina is 7-0 in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record and 16-7 in their last 23 games overall while the under is 11-4-3 in their last 18 games as a favorite. Nashville is 5-16 in the last 21 meetings between these two teams.
I think you could make the case for the Predators here as they’re usually a pretty tough out, even on the road which isn’t something we could say early on this season. However, the Hurricanes have simply had Nashville’s number for some time now, and I don’t see it changing any time soon as the Hurricanes are really, really good. I’ll back the Hurricanes to get the job done in this one.
