The Columbus Blue Jackets and the Dallas Stars meet in NHL action from the American Airlines Arena on Saturday night.
The Columbus Blue Jackets will look to rebound from a 4-1 loss to the Stars on Thursday. Oliver Bjorkstrand leads the Blue Jackets in scoring with 32 points including a team-high 14 goals and 18 assists while Jack Roslovic has 29 points with a team-high 20 assists. Cam Atkinson has 28 points with 14 goals of his own. Seth Jones has 18 assists and PAtrik Laine has 12 goals for the Blue Jackets. As a team, Columbus is averaging 2.5 goals on 28.9 shots with a 13.9% success rate on the PP while allowing 3.2 goals on 31.8 shots with a 78% success rate on the PK this season.
The Dallas Stars will try to build on their win over the Blue Jackets from their last matchup. Joe Pavelski leads the Stars in scoring with 39 points including team-highs of 17 goals and 22 assists while Roope Hintz has 13 goals with 20 assists for his 33 points and Jason Robertson has 30 points with 12 goals and 18 apples this season. John Klingberg also has 28 points with 22 assists for the Stars this season. As a team, Dallas is averaging 2.7 goals on 29.3 shots with a 24.6% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.5 goals on 27.5 shots against with a 78.3% success rate on the PK this season.
Columbus is 22-48 in their last 70 games overall and 0-4 in their last 4 games as a road underdog while the over is 4-0-1 in their last 5 games as an underdog. Dallas is 11-24 in their last 35 games overall and 1-4 in their last 5 games as a favorite while the under is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games following a win. The over is 3-1-3 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
Again, like Thursday’s matchup, these are two teams that I’m really not trying to get behind right now with neither playing all that well. However, with that said, I still feel like these are two teams that continue to play defense-first hockey and I think at worst, we see a game with 5 goals for a push here. I’ll take the under in this spot though as I think we have a battle on our hands in this one.
