The Vegas Golden Knights and the Anaheim Ducks meet in NHL action from the Honda Center on Friday night.
The Vegas Golden Knights will look to build on a 6-2 win over Los Angeles in their last game. Mark Stone leads the Golden Knights in scoring with 46 points including 14 goals and a team-high 32 assists while Max Pacioretty has a team-high 21 goals with 19 assists for his 40 points along with a team-high 155 shots on goal this season. Shea Theodore has 27 assists as part of his 33-point tally so far in defense for the Golden Knights while Jonathan Marchessault, William Karlsson and Alex Tuch all have double-digit goal and assist marks for Vegas as well this season. As a team, Vegas is averaging 3.2 goals per game on 32 shots per contest with a 17.7% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.2 goals on 27.6 shots against with an 85.2% success rate on the PK this season.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to build on a 4-1 road win over San Jose last time out. Max Comtois leads the Ducks in scoring with 26 points including a team-high 12 goals and 14 assists while Rickard Rakell has 23 points with a team-high 15 assists on the year. Adam Henrique has 18 points with 11 goals while Cam Fowler and Ryan Getzlaf each have double-digit assist tallies as well for Anaheim this season. As a team, Anaheim is averaging 2.2 goals on 27 shots per game with a 10.8% success rate on the PP while allowing 3.1 goals on 30.9 shots against with a 78% kill rate on the PK this season.
Vegas is 4-1 in their last 5 road games and 11-3 in their last 14 games as a road favorite while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Anaheim is 8-21 in their last 29 games overall and 7-23 in their last 30 games as a home underdog while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Vegas is 14-3 in the last 17 meetings between these two teams and 6-1 in the last 7 meetings between the two teams in Anaheim.
I get why the plus money is worth a look with a home dog like Anaheim, but the Ducks play better on the road and provide more value getting the +1.5 away from home. Vegas’ knock was that they’re a stronger home team than road team, but they’ve changed that narrative and are beating up on teams away from home as well, just ask the L.A. Kings. I think this is another spot where Vegas flexes some muscle with the playoffs not far away, so give me Vegas -1.5 here.
