The Anaheim Ducks and the San Jose Sharks meet in NHL action from the SAP Center on Monday night.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to rebound from a 4-1 loss to Colorado in their last outing. Max Comtois leads the Ducks in scoring with 23 points including a team-high 11 goals and 12 assists while Rickard Rakell has 22 points with a team-high 15 assists and Adam Henrique has 11 goals of his own this season. Cam Fowler and Ryan Getzlaf have 13 and 12 assists respectively while Kevin Shattenkirk also has 12 apples this season. As a team, Anaheim is averaging 2.2 goals on 27.2 shots with an 11.2% conversion rate on the PP while allowing 3.2 goals on 30.3 shots with a 77.1% success rate on the PK.
The San Jose Sharks will look to bounce back from a 4-2 loss to the Kings in their last matchup. Evander Kane leads the Sharks in scoring with 35 points including a team-high 16 goals and 19 assists while Tomas Hertl has 26 points with 12 goals and 14 assists and Logan Couture also has 26 points, but his numbers are flipped with 14 goals and 12 apples this season. Brent Burns, Timo Meier and Kevin Labanc all have 24 points with double-digit assists but Labanc is the only Shark of the three with 10 goals this season. As a team, San Jose is averaging 2.7 goals on 30 shots per game with a 17.7% success rate on the power play while allowing 3.3 goals on 32.1 shots with an 80.3% success rate on the PK this season.
Anaheim is 17-37 in their last 54 games overall and 3-8 in their last 11 road games while the under is 5-2-1 in their last 8 games against a team with a losing record. San Jose is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall and 5-2 in their last 7 home games while the over is 20-8 in their last 28 Monday games. The under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
This is a hard game to call as Anaheim’s scored two or les sin four of their last five games but the one outlier was a game against the Sharks where the Ducks put up five out of nowhere. On the other hand, the Sharks are playing some of their best puck of the season right now. Instead, I’m going to side with the under. Anaheim’s offense hasn’t been consistent as of late and while San Jose’s been playing better, they can go through low-scoring phases as well and a 3-2 game here wouldn’t shock me at all. Give me the under.
