The Ottawa Senators and the Toronto Maple Leafs meet in NHL action from the Scotiabank Arena on Saturday night.
The Ottawa Senators will look to bounce back from a 3-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers in their last matchup. Thomas Chabot & Brady Tkachuk each have 24 points with Chabot logging a team-high 20 assists while Tkachuk has 12 goals and 12 assists. Drake Batherson and Connor Brown each have 12 goals while Josh Norris has 10 goals and 11 assists this season. As a team, Ottawa is averaging 2.6 goals on 31.1 shots per game with a 15% success rate on the PP while allowing 3.7 goals on 32.9 shots against with a 76.6% success rate on the PK.
The Toronto Maple Leafs will be out to build on a 3-2 win over Montreal last time out. Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews each have 48 points with Marner logging a team-high 35 assists while Matthews has a team-high 28 goals along with 20 assists. John Tavares, William Nylander and Zach Hyman each have double-digit goal and assist tallies this season, but Nylander will miss this game due to COVID protocols. As a team, Toronto is averaging 3.3 goals on 31 shots per game with a 23.5% success rate on the PP while allowing 2.5 goals on 28.5 shots against per game with a 78.5% success rate on the PK.
Ottawa is 22-52 in their last 74 games overall and 12-43 in their last 55 road games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games as a road underdog. Toronto is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall and 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win while the under is 4-1-1 in their last 6 games as a favorite.
I get the case that could be made for either side here as this is a lot of plus money to give up with Ottawa but the Leafs are the better team. With that said, Toronto’s found something with Jack Campbell between the pipes and I just don’t see any way that Ottawa keeps it reasonably close. I’ll side with Toronto on the -1.5 puck line here.
