The Los Angeles Kings and the San Jose Sharks meet in NHL action from the SAP Center on Saturday night.
The Los Angeles Kings will look to rebound from a 5-2 loss to the Sharks in their last outing. Anze Kopitar leads the Kings in scoring with 40 points including a team-high 32 assists while Drew Doughty has 30 points with 22 assists this season. Alex Iafallo also has 23 points with 14 apples, while Adrian Kempe and Dustin Brown are each on 22 points with Brown logging a team-high 15 goals while Kempe has 13 goals this season. As a team, Los Angeles is averaging 2.7 goals on 29.8 shots with a 22% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.9 goals on 31.2 shots with an 84.7% success rate on the PK this season.
The San Jose Sharks will look to build off of Friday’s performance and log another victory here. Evander Kane leads the Sharks in scoring with 33 points including a team-high 15 goals and 17 assists while Logan Couture has 14 goals with 11 assists for his 25 points and Tomas Hertl has 24 points with 11 goals and 13 assists. Brent Burns is 2nd with 16 assists and Timo Meier comes right behind him with 15 assists on the year. As a team, San Jose is averaging 2.7 goals on 30 shots per game with an 18.1% success rate on the power play while allowing 3.3 goals on 32.2 shots against with a 79.8% success rate on the PK this season.
Los Angeles is 21-48 in their last 69 road games and 1-5 in their last 6 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 Saturday games. San Jose is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall and 4-1 in their last 5 home games while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games on no rest.
I can respect the rivalry vibes that I get when the Kings and Sharks take the ice against each other, but realistically this isn’t your normal rivalry as these two teams love to score on one another and do damage on the board as well as on the ice. I think that we see more of Friday in Saturday’s rematch with lots of goals and getting us well over the number in the process.
