The Florida Panthers and the Carolina Hurricanes meet in NHL action from the PNC Arena on Tuesday night.
The Florida Panthers will be out to build on a 3-0 win over Columbus in their last matchup. Jonathan Huberdeau leads the Panthers in scoring with 42 points including 14 goals and a team-high 28 assists while Aleksander Barkov has 40 points with 14 goals and 26 assists and Carter Verhaeghe has a team-high 17 goals with 16 assists this season. As a team, Florida is averaging 3.3 goals on 34.5 shots with a 23.2% success rate on the PP while allowing 2.7 goals on 30.8 shots with an 80.7% success rate on the PK this season.
The Carolina Hurricanes will be out to build on a narrow 1-0 win over the Dallas Stars last time out. Sebastian Aho leads the Hurricanes in scoring with 33 points including a team-high 15 goals along with 18 assists while Dougie Hamilton has 30 points with a team-high 26 assists. Vincent Trocheck and Nino Niederreiter also have 14 goals each this season. As a team, Carolina is averaging 3.1 goals on 32.3 shots with a 29.1% success rate on the PP while allowing 2.5 goals on 28.2 shots with an 82.4% success rate killing off penalties this season.
Florida is 6-0 in their last 6 games overall and 5-0 in their last 5 games following a win while the over is 10-1-2 in their last 13 games as an underdog. Carolina is 9-3 in their last 12 games following a win and 12-5 in their last 17 home games while the under is 8-3-3 in their last 14 games overall. Florida is 2-8 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams.
I get the Hurricanes being favored at home where they’ve been so very good this season. However, we’re getting plus money with a Florida team that’s one of the best in the NHL on the offensive end and arguably has one of the top goaltending tandems with Sergei Bobrovsky and Chris Driedger. Carolina’s rock solid and wouldn’t surprise me if they won here, but the value is all with Florida in this one.
