The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Calgary Flames meet in NHL action from the Scotiabank Saddledome on Monday night.
The Toronto Maple Leafs will look to add to their 4-2 win over the Flames on Sunday night. Mitch Marner leads the Leafs in scoring with 47 points including a team-high 34 assists while Auston Matthews has 44 points with a team-high 25 goals and 144 shots on goal this season. John Tavares and William Nylander each have double-digit goal and assist tallies this season. As a team, Toronto is averaging 3.2 goals on 31 shots with a 24.1% success rate on the PP while allowing 2.5 goals on 28.1 shots with a 77.7% success rate killing off penalties this season.
The Calgary Flames will look to rebound from their loss to the Leafs last time out. Elias Lindholm leads the Flames in scoring with 31 points including a team-high 22 points while Matthew Tkachuk has 28 points with 10 goals and 18 assists and Johnny Gaudreau has 27 points with a team-high 13 goals this season. As a team, Calgary is averaging 2.6 goals on 29.7 shots with a 20.2% success rate on the PP while allowing 3 goals on 29.7 shots against per game with an 80% success rate on the PK this season.
Toronto is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 12-4 in their last 16 road games while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games against a team with a losing record. Calgary is 1-6 in their last 7 games overall and 1-5 in their last 6 games on no rest while the under is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games overall. The favorite is 17-8 in the last 25 meetings between these two teams.
I get that it can be hard to beat the same team in as many nights in a back-to-back, but the Leafs appear to be back on track while the Flames continue to lose traction and just can’t seem to get the cart back on the rails. I just think this is another game where we’re getting a reasonable price with the much better team, so I’ll lay it and play it with Toronto here.
