The Colorado Avalanche and the Minnesota Wild meet in NHL action from the Xcel Energy Center on Monday night.
The Colorado Avalanche will be out to build on their 4th straight win following a 2-1 win over St. Louis last time out. Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon share the team-high in scoring with 43 points apiece, with Rantanen logging a team-high 21 goals along with 22 assists while MacKinnon has a team-high 30 assists and 139 shots on goal this season. As a team, Colorado is averaging 3.6 goals on 35.4 shots per game with a 23.4% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.2 goals on 25.2 shots with an 87.1% success rate on the PK this season.
The Minnesota Wild will try to build off of a 2-1 road win over Vegas last time out. Kirill Kaprizov leads the Wild in scoring with 31 points including a team-high 14 goals while Joel Greenway leads Minnesota in the assist department with 18 assists this season. Mats Zuccarello also has 22 points with 16 assists as well this season. As a team, Minnesota is averaging 2.9 goals on 29.3 shots per game with a 10.2% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.5 goals on 30.7 shots with an 85.8% success rate killing off PKs this season.
Colorado is 16-5 in their last 21 games as a favorite and 5-2 in their last 7 road games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a road favorite. Minnesota is 10-4 in their last 14 games overall and 7-2 in their last 9 games following a win while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 home games. Colorado is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams but just 6-13 in the last 19 meetings between these two teams in Minnesota.
I get why Colorado is favored here as the Avs are still on an insane run right now. However, Minnesota has still been close to money at home this season, winning at almost an 80% clip at home this season and as good as Colorado’s been playing, their biggest issues have come on the road so I’ll take a shot with the Wild and the plus money here.
