The Dallas Stars and the Carolina Hurricanes meet in NHL action from the PNC Arena on Sunday night.
The Dallas Stars will look to build on their 3-2 win over the Hurricanes from Saturday. Joe Pavelski leads the Stars in scoring with 34 points including team-highs of 15 goals and 19 assists while John Klingberg has 25 points with 19 assists of his own this season. Roope Hintz and Jason Robertson each have 24 points with Hintz logging 11 goals and 13 assists while Robertson has 16 assists on the year. Miro Heiskanen also has 20 points with 15 assists on the year. As a team, Dallas is averaging 2.8 goals on 29.8 shots with a 24.5% success rate on the PP while giving up 2.6 goals on 26.7 shots with a 76.7% success rate on the PK this season.
The Carolina Hurricanes will be out to rebound from their loss to Dallas on Saturday. Sebastian Aho leads the Hurricanes in scoring with 33 points including a team-high 15 goals and 18 assists while Dougie Hamilton has 30 points with a team-high 26 assists and 120 shots on goal. Vincent Trocheck and Martin Necas each have 28 points with Trocheck logging 14 goals and 14 apples while Necas has 19 assists. Jordan Staal and Andrei Svechnikov each have 26 points with 10 goals and 16 assists apiece this season. As a team, Carolina is averaging 3.2 goals on 31.8 shots with a 29.6% success rate on the PP while allowing 2.5 goals on 28.3 shots with an 82.9% kill rate on the PK this season.
Dallas is 7-20 in their last 27 games overall and 5-16 in their last 21 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 2-0-3 in their last 5 road games. Carolina is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall and 22-8 in their last 30 games played on no rest while the under is 3-0-2 in their last 5 games as a home favorite. The favorite is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
I get the case that could be made for both sides as Dallas made me eat my words with their win over the ‘Canes on Saturday while Carolina’s the better team here. With that said, Dallas hasn’t been the best at stringing wins together this season and you have to think that Carolina will want some retribution after how things shook out on Saturday. I’ll back Carolina on the money line in this one.
