The New Jersey Devils and the Boston Bruins meet in NHL action from the TD Garden on Tuesday night.
The New Jersey Devils will be looking to win another game against the B’s after their 1-0 triumph over Boston last time out. Pavel Zacha and Ty Smith share New Jersey’s scoring lead with 19 points apiece, with Smith logging a team-high 17 assists while Zacha has 7 goals and 12 assists. Jesper Bratt has 17 points with 14 assists while Kyle Palmieri, Janne Kuokkanen and Jack Hughes all have 16 points with Hughes and Palmieri each posting 7 goals and 9 assists while Kuokkanen has 11 assists. As a team, New Jersey’s averaging 2.4 goals on 29.4 shots with a 14.1% success rate on the PP while allowing 3.1 goals on 31.3 shots with a 72% kill rate on the PK this season.
The Boston Bruins will try to rebound from their loss to New Jersey last time out. Brad Marchand leads Boston in scoring with 34 points including 12 goals and a team-high 22 assists but he continues to miss time due to COVID-19. David Pastrnak leads Boston with 14 goals along with 13 assists for his 27 points while Patrice Bergeron has 26 points with 10 goals and 16 assists. Charlie McAvoy and David Krejci each have 17 assists on the year. As a team, Boston is averaging 2.7 goals on 31.8 shots with a 23.7% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.3 goals on 26.8 shots with an 88.8% success rate killing off PKs this season.
New Jersey is 2-5 in their last 7 games following a win and 28-69 in their last 97 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 8-2 in their last 10 games overall. Boston is 41-16 in their last 57 Tuesday games while the under is 10-1-1 in their last 12 games as a favrotie. The underdog is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
I get why Boston would be favored here as the Bruins have been the better team side-by-side all season long. However, the Bruins still don’t look completely right, and like it or not, the Devils have played their best on the road this season where they’ve picked up nine of their 13 wins. Just a lot of value here, so I’ll take New Jersey and the plus money in this one.
