The Philadelphia Flyers and the Buffalo Sabres meet in NHL action from the KeyBank Center on Monday night.
The Philadelphia Flyers will look to build on their 2-1 win over the New York Rangers last time out. James van Riemsdyk leads the Flyers in scoring with 31 points including 13 goals and 18 assists while Joel Farabee has 27 points with a team-high 14 goals and 13 assists. Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek each have 25 points with Voracek logging a team-high 20 assists. As a team, Philadelphia is averaging 3.1 goals on 29.1 shots with a 20.5% success rate on the power play while allowing 3.6 goals on 29 shots per game with a 72.9% success rate on the PK this season.
The Buffalo Sabres will be out to snap their brutal 17-game losing streak after a 3-2 loss to Boston last time out. Sam Reinhart and Victor Olofsson each have 21 points with Reinhart logging a team-high 12 goals while Olofsson has 9 goals and 12 assists. Jack Eichel has 18 points with a team-high 16 assists while Taylor Hall is right behind with 17 points and 15 assists. Philadelphia is 0-5 in their last 5 games following a win and 1-4 in their last 5 games overall while the over is 9-2 in their last 11 games overall. Buffalo is 14-40 in their last 54 games overall and 3-14 in their last 17 home games while the under is 8-2-1 in their last 11 games as a home underdog. The home team is 13-5 in the last 18 meetings between these two teams.
It’s hard to make a case for either of these teams as we all know that Philadelphia’s a better team than how they’ve been playing and the Sabres are well… they’re the Sabres. With that said, one win doesn’t mean the ship’s been righted for the Flyers in my opinion as the Flyers have had issues keeping the puck out of the net and It almost feels like this is where Buffalo could actually…. And I can’t believe I’m saying this, steal a win. Not a game I’m looking to bet, but I’ll take the Sabres and the plus money if forced to pick.
