The Florida Panthers and the Dallas Stars meet in NHL action from the American Airlines Center on Sunday evening.
The Florida Panthers will look to build on their 4-3 win over the Stars last time out. Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov lead the Stars in scoring with 37 points apiece, with Huberdeau logging 11 goals and 26 assists while Aleksander Barkov has 13 goals and 24 assists. Carter Verhaeghe has 28 points with a team-high 15 goals with 13 assists while Patric Hornqvist and Aaron Ekblad each have double-digit goal and assist tallies this season. As a team, Florida is averaging 3.2 goals on 34.9 shots with a 24.5% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.8 goals on 30.1 shots with an 80.2% success rate on the PK.
The Dallas Stars will try to bounce back and salvage a win after their loss to Florida on Saturday. Joe Pavelski leads the Stars in scoring with 32 points including team-highs of 15 goals and 17 assists while John Klingberg and Roope Hintz each have 21 points with Klingberg logging 15 assists while Hintz has 10 goals and 11 apples. Jason Robertson has 20 points with 15 assists while Jamie Benn, Denis Gurianov and Miro Heiskanen all have double-digit assists as part of their 16 points apiece this season. As a team, Dallas is averaging 2.8 goals on 29.3 shots with a 23.8% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.5 goals on 27 shots with a 77.2% success rate on the PK.
Florida is 35-17 in their last 52 games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 in their last 5 games overall while the over is 5-0-1 in their last 6 games as a road underdog. Dallas is 1-4 in their last 5 home games and 7-19 in their last 26 games overall while the over is 6-1-2 in their last 9 home games. The over is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams in Dallas.
I think a case could be made for either side here as it’s hard to beat the same team on a back-to-back like Florida has, but the issue is that the Stars are back to showing no value and now the defense that was their strong suit is starting to falter. Florida is playing really well, and to continue to get these prices almost feels criminal. Give me Florida here.
