The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Dallas Stars meet in NHL action from the American Airlines Center on Thursday night.
The Tampa Bay Lightning will look to build on a 2-1 win over the Stars last time out. Victor Hedman leads the Lightning in scoring with 33 points including a team-high 27 assists while Steven Stamkos has 31 points with a team-high 16 goals with 15 assists. Brayden Point has 30 points with 13 goals and 17 assists and Ondrej Palat’s right behind with 29 points including 11 goals and 18 apples this season. As a team, Tampa Bay is averaging 3.6 goals on 30.5 shots with a 28.7% success rate on the PP while giving up 2.3 goals on 27.5 shots with an 83% success rate on the PK.
The Dallas Stars will try to bounce back from their loss to the Bolts last time out. Joe Pavelski leads the Stars in scoring with 29 points including team-highs of 14 goals and 15 assists while John Klingberg’s got 19 points with 14 assists and Roope Hintz and Jason Robertson each have 18 points with Hintz splitting between 9 goals and 9 assists while Robertson has 14 apples this season. As a team, Dallas is averaging 2.8 goals on 28.9 shots per game with a 23.5% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.5 goals on 27 shots with a 77.2% kill rate on the PK this season.
Tampa Bay is 39-13 in their last 52 games overall and 36-15 in their last 51 road games while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games as a road favorite. Dallas is 0-4 in their last 4 home games and 3-14 in their last 17 games as an underdog while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600. Tampa Bay is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams in Dallas.
A home dog is worth a look most nights, but the Stars continue to disappoint and it’s getting to a point where you lose the value with the Stars which stinks because they’re pretty good defensively. The issue is that the Lightning continue to destroy teams left and right and I just don’t see how Dallas all of a sudden steps in front of this train. I’ll back the Lightning to win in regulation to get the price down here.
Chris’s Pick Tampa Bay in regulation -115
