The Florida Panthers and the Chicago Blackhawks meet in NHL action from the United Center on Thursday night.
The Florida Panthers come into this one looking to bounce back from a 3-2 loss to the Blackhawks in their last outing. Aleksander Barkov leads the Panthers in scoring with 37 points with a team-high 13 goals with 24 assists while Jonathan Huberdeau has 36 points with 11 goals and a team-high 25 assists. Patric Hornqvist, Carter Verhaeghe and Aaron Ekblad each have double-digit goal and assist tallies this season. As a team, Florida is averaging 3.4 goals on 34.7 shots per game with a 25.5% success rate on the power play while giving up 2.8 goals on 30.4 shots against with an 81.1% kill rate on the PK this season.
The Chicago Blackhawks will look to build on their win over the Panthers last time out. Patrick Kane leads the Blackhawks in scoring with 44 points including 12 goals and a team-high 32 assists, as many assists as Alex DeBrincat has points with a team-high 16 goals and 16 assists this season. Dominik Kubalik has 26 points with 11 goals and 15 assists while Mattias Janmark has 10 goals as part of his 18 points this season. As a team, Chicago is averaging 2.9 goals on 29.5 shots per game with a 28% success rate on the PP while giving up 3.3 goals per game on 33.9 shots with a 72.4% kill rate on the PK this season.
Florida is 7-2 in their last 9 games as a favorite and 9-4 in their last 13 road games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a road favorite. Chicago is 0-4 in their last 4 games following a win and 1-4 in their last 5 games overall while the over is 7-3 in their last 10 home games. Florida is 2-8 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams in Chicago.
I think a case could be made for either side here as Florida’s had a ton of success this season but this price feels a bit fishy, almost like they’re begging you to take Florida, making Chicago worth the look here. With that said, the home team’s won all five meetings this season and while Florida’s been a money team and you’re not going to get prices like this with them often, maybe they’re trying to tell us something. I’ll take a shot with Chicago and the plus money here.
