The Anaheim Ducks and the Minnesota Wild meet in NHL action from the Xcel Energy Center on Wednesday.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to bounce back from a 2-1 loss at the hands of Minnesota last time out. Rickard Rakell leads the Ducks in scoring with 21 points including a team-high 15 assists and 6 goals while Max Comtois has 19 points with a team-high 9 goals along with 10 assists while Adam Henrique has 9 goals and 6 assists. Cam Fowler and Kevin Shattenkirk each have 13 points with 2 goals and 11 assists as well this year. As a team, Anaheim is averaging 2.2 goals on 27.7 shots with a 12% success rate on the PP while allowing 3.4 goals against on 29.4 shots against with a 76.1% success rate on the PK this season.
The Minnesota Wild will try to build on their 2-1 win over Anaheim last time out. Kirill Kaprizov leads the Wild in scoring with 25 points including 10 goals and a team-high 15 assists while Mats Zuccarello and Joel Greenway each have 20 points with 15 assists as well. Joel Eriksson Ek has 16 points with a team-high 11 goals while Marcus Foligno has 16 points with 7 goals and 9 assists. As a team, Minnesota is averaging 3 goals on 30.2 shots with an 8.5% success rate on the PP while allowing 2.6 goals on 30.1 shots against with an 84.7% success rate on the PK this season.
Anaheim is 1-7 in their last 8 games against a team with a winning record and 16-35 in their last 51 games overall. Minnesota is 10-1 in their last 11 home games and 6-2 in their last 8 games overall while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games as a favorite. The favorite is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
I get why the Wild are favored here, but the defense isn’t the issue for Anaheim, it’s been the offense that doesn’t show up. The Ducks battle hard and are 12-2 on the puck line on the road this season. The only way to bet Minnesota here is on the puck line, but I’m not sure the Wild win this one by a pair. I’ll take my shot with Anaheim +1.5 in this one.
