The Florida Panthers and the Chicago Blackhawks meet in NHL action from the United Center on Tuesday night.
The Florida Panthers will look to bounce back from a 5-3 loss to the Lightning in their last matchup. Aleksander Barkov leads the Panthers in scoring with 24 points including team-highs of 13 goals and 24 assists while Jonathan Huberdeau has 11 goals and 24 assists for his 35 points this season. Patric Hornqvist and Carter Verhaeghe each have 12 goals with double-digit assists this season while Aaron Ekblad has 10 goals and 10 assists this season. As a team, Florida is averaging 3.4 goals on 34.8 shots with a 24.7% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.7 goals on 30.6 shots against with an 81.1% success rate on the penalty kill this season.
The Chicago Blackhawks will look to rebound and snap a four-game losing streak after a 4-1 loss to the Lightning in their last outing. Patrick Kane leads Chicago in scoring with 12 goals and a team-high 30 points for his 42 points while Alex DeBrincat has 31 points with a team-high 16 goals and 15 assists. Dominik Kubalik has 25 points with 15 assists and 10 goals and Mattias Janmark has 10 goals as part of his 18 points this season. As a team, Chicago is averaging 2.9 goals on 29.5 shots with a 28% success rate on the power play while allowing 3.3 goals against on 33.9 shots against with a 72.4% success rate on the PK this season.
Florida is 9-3 in their last 12 road games and 7-1 in their last 8 games as a favorite while the over is 6-2-2 in their last 10 games overall. Chicago is 0-4 in their last 4 games overall and 6-18 in their last 24 Tuesday games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a home underdog. Florida is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
I get why the plus money with Chicago is worth a look as the Blackhawks have been kind to use in the underdog role and have made us a pretty penny at times this season. However, the Blackhawks are also ice cold right now and are pretty hard to back given their recent losing streak. I just don’t think the Blackhawks are worth backing until we see some signs of life from them on a consistent basis, so I’ll take my chances with Florida laying the juice on the road here.
