The Buffalo Sabres and the New York Rangers meet in NHL action from Madison Square Garden on Monday night.
The Buffalo Sabres will try to snap a 13-game losing streak after a 4-1 loss to Boston last time out. Sam Reinhart and Victor Olofsson share the team lead in scoring with 19 points with Reinhart logging a team-high 11 goals while Olofsson has 11 assists. Jack Eichel has 18 points with a team-high 16 assists and Taylor Hall’s on 16 points with 14 assists. As a team, Buffalo is averaging 2 goals per game on 27.9 shots per game with a 25.7% success rate on the PP while allowing 3.4 goals on 31 shots against per game with a 78.3% success rate on the PK this season.
The New York Rangers will try to build off of a 3=1 win over the Capitals in their last matchup Pavel Buchnevich leads the Rangers in scoring with 28 points including 11 goals and a team-high 17 assists while Artemi Panarin has 25 points with 17 assists of his own. Ryan Strome’s on 24 points with 14 assists and Chris Kreider has 20 points with a team-high 14 goals. Mika Zibanejad and Adam Fox each have double-digit assists this season. As a team, New York is averaging 2.9 goals on 29.9 shots per game with a 14.7% success rate on the PP while allowing 2.6 goals against on 28.3 shots against per game with an 86.6% conversion rate on the PK this season.
Buffalo is 15-36 in their last 51 games overall and 12-41 in their last 53 games as a road underdog while the under is 4-1-1 in their last 6 games against a team with a losing record. New York is 2-5 in their last 7 games as a favorite and 3-12 in their last 15 Monday games while the under is 9-3 in their last 12 games as a home favorite. Buffalo is 8-22 in the last 30 meetings between these two teams.
I get the case that you could make for the plus money as this is a lot of juice to give up with the Rangers. However, once again, the Sabres continue to be a profitable road fade as it is and a massive losing streak won’t remedy things and a coaching change clearly hasn’t improved anything. The Rangers have scored pretty well lately, so I’ll take my chances with the Rangers on the puck line in this one.
