The Anaheim Ducks and the Minnesota Wild meet in NHL action from the Xcel Energy Center on Monday night.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to rebound from a 5-1 loss to the Arizona Coyotes in their last matchup. Rickard Rakell leads the Ducks in scoring with 21 points including a team-high 15 assists while Max Comtois has 19 points with a team-high 9 goals and 10 assists and Adam Henrique also has 9 goals with 6 apples this season. Kevin Shattenkirk and Cam Fowler each have 13 points with 11 assists as well this year. As a team, Anaheim is averaging 2.2 goals on 27.6 shots per game with a 12.3% success rate on the PP while allowing 3.3 goals on 29.5 shots with a 76.7% success rate on the PK this season.
The Minnesota Wild will look to rebound from a humiliating 6-0 loss at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche last time out. Kirill Kaprizov leads Minnesota in scoring with 25 points including 10 goals and a team-high 15 assists while Mats Zuccarello and Joel Greenway each have 20 points with 5 goals and 15 assists apiece this season. Joel Eriksson Ek also leads the Wild in goal-scoring with 11 goals along with his 5 assists this season. As a team, Minnesota is averaging 3.1 goals on 30.1 shots per game with an 8.9% conversion rate on the power play while allowing 2.5 goals on 29.7 shots with an 85.4% kill rate on the PK this season.
Anaheim is 1-6 in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record and 29-59 in their last 88 games overall while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 road games. Minnesota is 8-0 in their last 8 home games and 10-1 in their last 11 games as a favorite while the over is 11-5 in their last 16 games overall. Anaheim is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams and the road team is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings between the two teams as well.
I get why Minnesota is favored here as the Wild are the better team playing better hockey. However, I’m not laying this kind of juice with the Wild, even at home against Anaheim. I’m not sure the Ducks win this one outright either, but they’ve only lost twice on the road this season by more than one goal, so I’ll take a shot with Anaheim +1.5 as I see the Ducks battling in this game as well.
