The Vancouver Canucks and Montreal Canadiens meet Saturday in NHL action at the Bell Centre.
The Vancouver Canucks look for a win after winning seven of their last eight games. The Vancouver Canucks are averaging 2.7 goals per game and are scoring on 20 percent of their power play opportunities. Brock Boeser leads Vancouver with 15 goals, Quinn Hughes has 23 assists and Bo Horvat has 78 shots on goal. Defensively, the Vancouver Canucks are allowing 3.2 goals per game and are killing 81.2 percent of their opponents power plays. Braden Holtby has given up 39 goals on 366 shots faced while Thatcher Demko has given up 59 goals on 741 shots.
The Montreal Canadiens need a win after losing four of their last five games. The Montreal Canadiens are averaging 3.2 goals per game and are scoring on 21.5 percent of their power play opportunities. Tyler Toffoli leads Montreal with 18 goals, Jonathan Douin has 18 assists and Brendan Gallagher has 93 shots on goal. Defensively, the Montreal Canadiens are allowing 2.7 goals per game and are killing 76.7 percent of their opponents power plays. Carey Price has given up 51 goals on 549 shots faced and Jake Allen has given up 23 goals on 296 shots.
The Canucks are 10-26 in their last 36 games playing on 0 days rest and 6-1 in their last 7 overall. The Canadiens are 7-15 in their last 22 games playing on 0 days rest and 4-10 in their last 14 overall. The under is 6-0-1 in Canucks last 7 overall. The under is 8-3 in Canadiens last 11 Saturday games. The Canucks are 1-8 in the last 9 meetings in Montreal and 6-20 in the last 26 meetings. The favorite is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings.
The Montreal Canadiens have owned the Canucks this season outside of an overtime loss last night, so I can somewhat understand why they're favored in this spot yet again. However, the Vancouver Canucks have played head and shoulders the better hockey over these last two weeks, and the Habs continue to find ways to lose and have some really bad losses as of late. I don't understand why the Canucks continue to get disrespected by oddsmakers, but I'll keep taking advantage of it. Give me Vancouver and the plus money.
