The Florida Panthers host the Nashville Predators in NHL action from the BB&T Center on Saturday afternoon..
The Nashville Predators will look to build on their 2-1 win over the Panthers last time out. Filip Forsberg leads the Predators in scoring with 27 points coming on 10 goals and 17 assists while Roman Josi has 16 points with 14 assists. Calle Jarnkrok has 15 points with 9 goals while Viktor Arvidsson has 14 points with 10 assists. As a team, Nashville is averaging 2.4 goals on 31.1 shots per game with a 19.6% success rate on the PP while allowing 3.3 goals on 30.6 shots against per game along with a 69% success rate on the PK this season.
The Florida Panthers will look to salvage some revenge here after their loss to Nashville last time out. Jonathan Huberdeau leads the Panthers in scoring with 35 points including 11 goals and a team-high 24 assists while Aleksander Barkov has 34 points with a team-high 12 goals and 22 assists. Patric Hornqvist and Carter Verhaeghe each have 11 goals and 11+ assists while Aaron Ekblad has 20 points split between 10 goals and 10 assists. As a team, Florida is averaging 3.4 goals on 34.3 shots per game with a 26.1% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.8 goals on 30.9 shots against per game with an 80.5% kill rate on the PK this season.
Nashville is 2-9 in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record and 7-19 in their last 26 games as an underdog while the under is 3-1-1 in their last 5 games overall. Florida is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall and 6-1 in their last 7 games as a favorite while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games against a team with a losing record. Nashville is 2-5 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
I get why heavy plus money with the Predators is tempting, but realistically, this Nashville team is not good on the road. Florida continues to score and continues to score goals at a high clip while the Predators continue to have issues keeping the puck out of the net. It’s a tricky proposition, but I’ll have to lay the -1.5 puck line with the Panthers here.
