The Dallas Stars and the Columbus Blue Jackets meet in NHL action from the Nationwide Arena on Sunday.
The Dallas Stars will look to bounce back from a 4-3 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets from Saturday. Joe Pavelski leads the Stars in scoring with 24 points including a team-high 13 goals while John Klingberg has 17 points with a team-high 12 assists this season. As a team, Dallas is averaging 2.9 goals per game with 28.5 shots per game and a 24.4% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.5 goals per game on 27.3 shots against per game with a 77.8% kill rate on the penalty kill this season.
The Columbus Blue Jackets will look to build on their victory over the Stars from Saturday night. Oliver Bjorkstrand leads the Blue Jackets in scoring with 23 points including 10 goals and 13 assists, tied with Jack Roslovic for the team-high in assists while Cam Atkinson has 21 points with a team-high 11 goals this season. As a team, Columbus is averaging 2.6 goals per game on 29 shots per game with a 16.2% success rate on the power play. On defense, the Blue Jackets are allowing 3.3 goals per game on 31.1 shots per game with a 72.5% success rate on the penalty kill this season.
Dallas is 3-13 in their last 16 games overall and 1-5 in their last 6 road games while the over is 4-1-1 in their last 5 games playing on no rest. Columbus is 17-36 in their last 53 games overall and 1-5 in their last 6 home games while the over is 3-0-2 in their last 5 games overall. Dallas is 2-11 in the last 13 meetings between these two teams and 1-7 in the last 8 meetings between the two teams in Columbus.
I get the case that could be made for either side here, as Dallas is probably the better team, but the Blue Jackets have all of the momentum after stealing the win in the dying seconds on Saturday. With that said, with two struggling teams, you might as well try to get the most bang for your buck and best value and that’s taking the Blue Jackets at home with plus money. Like I said, Columbus sucked out the win late on Saturday and while it’s hard to beat the same team in as many days, the bottom line is that it’s doable with how Dallas has had issues this season so I’ll take a shot on Columbus here.
