The San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks mix it up in NHL action from the Honda Center on Saturday night.
The San Jose Sharks will be looking to build on their 6-0 dismantling of the Ducks in Friday’s matchup. Evander Kane and Logan Couture share the team lead in scoring with 22 points, with Kane sharing the Sharks lead in assists with 12 assists, the same as Timo Meier, while Couture has a team-high 13 goals this season. The Sharks are averaging 2.7 goals per game on 30 shots per contest with a power play percentage of 18.3% while allowing 3.8 goals per game which is the most in the league on 32.1 shots per game which is the 2nd most in the NHL at the moment. The Sharks also have a penalty kill percentage of 78.3% this season.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to bounce back from a frustrating loss to the Sharks on Friday. Rickard Rakell and Max Comtois share the team lead in scoring with 19 points apiece, with Rakell logging 13 assists to lead the Ducks while Comtois has 9 goals to lead the Ducks in that regard. The Ducks are averaging 2.3 goals per game on 27.5 shots per game with a power play percentage of 12.5% while allowing 3.1 goals per game on 29.3 shots per game with a penalty kill percentage of 77.9% this season.
San Jose is 6-13 in their last 19 road games and 0-4 in their last 4 games played on no rest while the under is 11-3 in their last 14 Saturday games. Anaheim is 8-21 in their last 29 games overall and 8-20 in their last 28 home games while the over is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games as an underdog. San Jose is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings between these two teams in Anaheim and 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams overall.
Once again we have a coin flip price between two teams I want really nothing to do with, but the lesser of two evils here is clearly the Sharks. Sure, San Jose’s had some issues defensively this season, but last I checked, to win games you have to be able to find the back of the net, and once again, Anaheim’s offense let them down. I just think as long as we keep getting favorable prices to fade Anaheim, you have to take them. Give me the Sharks here.
