The Montreal Canadiens and the Calgary Flames meet in NHL action from the Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday night.
The Montreal Canadiens come into this one looking to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to Calgary last time out. Jeff Petry leads the Canadiens in scoring with 24 points coming on 10 goals and 14 assists while Tyler Toffoli has 23 points with a team-high 15 goals and Jonathan Drouin has 17 points with a team-high 15 assists this season. The Canadiens are averaging 3.3 goals per game on 33.3 shots per game with a 21.9% power play percentage this season. The Habs are allowing 2.6 goals per game on 28.7 shots per game with a penalty kill percentage of 77.9% this season.
The Calgary Flames will look to build on their win over Montreal in their last outing. Johnny Gaudreau and Elias Lindholm each have 23 points with Gaudreau leading the Flames in scoring with 11 goals while Lindholm has a team-high 17 assists this season. The Flames as a team are averaging 2.7 goals per game with 29.7 shots per game this season and a power play percentage of 20.4% while allowing 3 goals per game on 30.4 shots per game with a penalty kill percentage of 80.2% this season.
Montreal is 1-6 in their last 7 road games and 3-8 in their last 11 games overall while the under is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games against a team with a losing record. Calgary is 0-5 in their last 5 games following a win and 11-5 in their last 16 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games as an underdog. The underdog is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings between these two teams.
I get that Montreal’s bounced back from their recent rough patch, but the Habs are still a team that’s going to get a lot of love from public bettors. Like your Torontos and Pittsburghs and Lightnings of the world. Calgary’s the team that’s been in better form as of late, and I’m just not trying to get behind Montreal until we see more consistent results from Montreal going forward. I’ll lay the cheap price with Calgary here.
