The San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks meet in NHL action from the Honda Center on Friday night.
The San Jose Sharks will look to build on their 3-2 win over St. Louis last time out. Logan Couture leads the Sharks in scoring with a team-high 13 goals along with 8 assists while Evander Kane has 20 points with 9 goals and 11 assists. Timo Meier has 15 points with 11 assists while Kevin Labanc has 13 points with 5 goals and 8 assists and Brent Burns has 5 goals with 7 assists for 12 points. Tomas Hertl and Ryan Donato each have 11 points as well on the year for the Sharks. Martin Jones leads the Sharks in goal, making 15 appearances with 7 wins and a 3.84 GAA while Devan Dubnyk has 2 wins with a 3.34 GAA in 12 appearances this season.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to rebound from a 5-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings last time out. Rickard Rakell leads Anaheim in scoring with 19 points including a team-high 13 assists while Max Comtois also has 19 points with a team-high 9 goals along with 10 assists. Cam Fowler has 13 points with 11 assists. Adam Henrique has 10 points as well for Anaheim with 6 goals and 4 assists this season. John Gibson has made 22 appearances for the Ducks between the pipes, logging 5 wins with a 2.99 GAA and 3 shutouts this season.
San Jose is 0-9 in their last 9 games following a win and 2-5 in their last 7 games overall while the over is 16-5-1 in their last 22 games as a road favorite. Anaheim is 8-20 in their last 28 games overall and 1-6 in their last 7 home games while the over is 7-3 in their last 10 games as an underdog. San Jose is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams and 8-3 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams in Anaheim.
This might be the worst matchup for me because it’s two teams that I want absolutely nothing to do with. Like if it was possible for nobody to win in a game, it might be here. With that said, the Sharks have had the bulk of the recent success against Anaheim and realistically, San Jose has had more success offensively and last time I checked, you need to be able to score goals to win hockey games. I’ll lean towards San Jose but realistically I’m not going near this one.
Chris’s Pick San Jose -110
