The Nashville Predators and the Carolina Hurricanes meet in NHL action from the PNC Arena on Tuesday night.
The Nashville Predators will look to build off of their 4-3 win over Dallas in a shootout in their last matchup. Filip Forsberg leads the Preds in scoring with 26 points including 16 assists while Roman Josi has 16 points with 14 apples this season. Viktor Arvidsson’s got 12 points with 9 assists and Mikael Granlund has 5 goals and 5 assists for his 10-point tally this season. Mattias Ekholm and Ryan Ellis also have 9 points apiece this season, with Ekholm logging 4 goals with 5 assists and Ellis chipping in 7 assists on the year. Pekka Rinne and Juuse Saros continue to split the load between the pipes for Nashville, with Rinne making 16 appearances with 6 wins, a shutout and a 2.93 GAA while Saros has a 3.10 GAA and 5 wins in 13 appearances.
The Carolina Hurricanes will be looking to build on their 4-2 win over Florida in their last matchup. Vincent Trocheck and Sebastian Aho each have a team-high 22 points with Trocheck logging 13 goals with 9 assists and Aho flipping the stats on his end with 9 goals and 13 apples. Jordan Staal and Andrei Svechnikov each have 20 points with 8 goals and 12 assists apiece while Martin Necas and Dougie Hamilton have 18 and 17 points respectively, with a combined 30 assists between the two and a team-high 72 shots on goal from Hamilton this season. Nino Niederreiter has 16 points with 11 goals while Brett Pesce has 13 points with 10 assists and Brock McGinn has 12 points this season. James Reimer continues to thrive in the starting goalie role for Carolina, posting an 11-3 record with a 2.83 GAA this season.
Nashville is 5-16 in their last 21 games as an underdog and 0-6 in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Carolina is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall and 8-2 in their last 10 home games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a losing record. Nashville is 1-9 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams and 2-6 in the last 8 meetings between the two teams in Carolina.
The plus money with Nashville is tempting now that they got a win on the road and showed everyone it is possible for Nashville to win away from home, but realistically, this isn’t a team I’m looking to back long term until Nashville shows me consistency. Carolina’s consistently pummeled teams, especially at home and the Canes just beat the Predators 4-2 just a week ago. Not enough has changed to make me think anything different happens here. I’ll back Carolina on the puck line in this one.
