The St. Louis Blues and the San Jose Sharks meet in NHL action from the SAP Center on Monday night.
The St. Louis Blues will look to bounce back from a 4-3 loss to the Los Angeles Kings last time out. David Perron leads the Blues in scoring with 27 points coming on 10 goals and 17 assists while Ryan O’Reilly isn’t far behind with 24 points on 8 goals with 16 assists and Brayden Schenn’s split his 22 points with 11 goals and 11 apples on the year. Jordan Kyrou has 20 points with 8 goals and 12 assists and Mike Hoffman has 18 points with 7 goals and 11 assists and Torey Krug is St. Louis’ top scoring defenseman, logging 15 points with 14 coming via assists. Jordan Binnington’s made the bulk of the starts in goal for the Blues, picking up 9 wins with a 2.69 GAA in 19 appearances for St. Louis.
The San Jose Sharks will look for a bounce back after a 4-0 loss to Vegas last time out. Logan Couture leads the Sharks in scoring with 20 points coming on 12 goals with 8 assists while Evander Kane and Timo Meier each have 11 assists with Kane logging 19 points with 8 goals and Meier registering 15 points with 4 goals on the year. Kevin Labanc has 13 points with 5 goals and 8 assists while Brent Burns has 12 points with 5 goals and 7 assists and Tomas Hertl has 11 points with 6 goals and 5 assists. Martin Jones has made the bigger chunk of appearances between the pipes for San Jose, picking up 7 wins with a 3.84 GAA in 15 appearances while Devan Dubnyk has just 1 win in 11 appearances with a 3.49 GAA.
St. Louis is 9-2 in their last 11 road games and 4-1 in their last 5 games against a losing record while the under is 12-4 in their last 16 Monday games. San Jose is 1-5 in their last 6 games overall and 1-8 in their last 9 games as a home underdog while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 home games. St. Louis is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams and 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in San Jose.
I gave a look to San Jose and the plus money, but realistically, I can’t trust San Jose as much as I had thought I would coming into the year and I’m starting to think I got that one wrong. St. Louis is picking up steam and has done some of their best work this season on the road, so I’ll back the Blues to win this one in regulation to get the price down near even money as opposed to paying the hefty price.
