The New Jersey Devils and the Boston Bruins meet in NHL action from the TD Garden on Sunday afternoon.
The New Jersey Devils will try to rebound from a 6-3 loss to the New York Rangers last time out. Pavel Zacha leads the Devils in scoring with 15 points including 6 goals and 9 assists while Jack Hughes has 13 points with 5 goals and 8 helpers. Myles Wood and Ty Smith each have 11 points with Wood logging 7 goals and 4 assists and Smith has 9 assists as part of his 11-point tally. Kyle Palmieri and P.K. Subban each have 9 points, with Palmieri logging 3 goals and 6 assists and Subban putting up 2 goals and 7 assists. MacKenzie Blackwood has made the bulk of the starts in goal for New Jersey, picking up 5 wins and a 2.97 GAA in 12 appearances.
The Boston Bruins will be out to build on a 5-1 win over Washington last time out. Brad Marchand leads the Bruins in scoring with 27 points with 12 goals and 15 assists while Patrice Bergeron’s got 9 goals and 13 apples. David Pastrnak has his 20 points split between 10 goals and 10 assists, while Charlie McAvoy has 17 points with 3 goals and 14 assists. Nick Ritchie has 15 points with 8 goals and 7 assists and David Krejci has 11 assists for the B’s as well this season. Tuukka Rask has made the bulk of the starts in goal for Boston, picking up 8 wins with a 2.55 GAA in 13 appearances while Jaroslav Halak has a 5-3 record with a shutout and a 2.24 GAA in 8 appearances.
New Jersey is 4-1 in their last 5 road games and 0-4 in their last 4 games overall while the under is 7-1 in their last 8 games against a team with a winning record. Boston is 6-2 in their last 8 home games and 73-33 in their last 106 games against a team with a winning percentage below.400 while the under is 4-1-1 in their last 6 games as a home favorite. The under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
I get the case that could be made for either side, as New Jersey is struggling mightily ride now, but the Devils have managed to get up for the games against the Boston with the last three meetings all being decided by one goal. I think this game sees its fair share of goals in this one, as New Jersey’s goaltending has turned into a sieve lately and Boston’s not the stingiest defensively either, so give me the over here.
