The Washington Capitals and the Boston Bruins meet in NHL action from the TD Garden on Friday night.
The Washington Capitals will look to build on a 2-1 shootout win over the Bruins in their last game. Nicklas Backstrom leads the Caps in scoring with 25 points including team-highs of 10 goals and 15 assists while John Carlson is 2nd in points with 19 including 5 goals and 14 assists. Alex Ovechkin and Tom Wilson each have 17 points coming on 7 goals and 10 assists while Jakub Vrana and T.J. Oshie each have 14 points with Vrana logging 7 goals and 7 assists and Oshie putting up 5 goals and 9 assists. Vitek Vanacek continues to see the majority of the work in goal for Washington, logging 10 wins with a 2.69 GAA this season.
The Boston Bruins will be out to bounce back from their loss to the Caps in the last meeting. Brad Marchand leads the Bruins in scoring with 24 points including 10 goals and 14 assists while Patrice Bergeron has 20 points with 8 goals and 12 apples. David Pastrnak comes in with 10 goals and 9 assists in 13 games and Charlie McAvoy has 15 points with 12 assists. Nick Ritchie also has 14 points split between 7 goals and 7 assists as well on the year. Tuukka Rask leads Boston in goal with 8 wins and a 2.56 GAA in 13 appearances while Jaroslav Halak has a 4-3 record with a shutout and a 2.42 GAA this season.
Washington is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall and 41-13 in their last 54 Friday games while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games following a win. Boston is 2-5 in their last 7 games overall and 5-2 in their last 7 home games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a home favorite. Washington is 37-15 in the last 52 meetings between these two teams and 18-6 in the last 24 meetings between the two teams in Boston.
I’ve gone back and forth on this game and truth be told I’ve made a strong case for either side. However, we’re getting plus money with the hotter team in Washington that also holds a 2-1 edge in victories over the Bruins this season. Boston will find themselves and get back on their feet eventually, but here, I’ll lean towards the Caps and the plus money.
