The Ottawa Senators and the Montreal Canadiens meet in NHL action from the Bell Centre on Tuesday night.
The Ottawa Senators will look to build on a 5-1 thrashing of the Flames here after their last matchup. Drake Batherson leads the Sens in scoring with 17 points including 9 goals and 8 assists while Brady Tkachuk is right behind with 9 goals and 7 assists in addition to a ridiculous team-high of 102 shots on goal this season. Thomas Chabot’s got 15 points with 12 assists while Tim Stutzle and Josh Norris each have 9 assists with Stutzle logging 14 points and Norris putting up 13. Matt Murray continues to see the bulk of Ottawa’s action in goal, making 19 appearances with 6 wins and a 3.55 GAA.
The Montreal Canadiens will try to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to Winnipeg last time out. Jeff Petry leads the Habs in scoring with 18 points including 6 goals and 12 assists while Tyler Toffoli has a team-high 12 goals as part of his 17-point tally this season. Nick Suzuki’s got 5 goals and 9 assists for his 14 points and Jonathan Drouin’s got 13 points with 11 assists. Josh Anderson has 12 points and Brendan Gallagher and Tomas Tatar each have 10 points as well for the Habs this year. Carey Price and Jake Allen continue to split time in goal, with Price picking up 5 wins in 12 starts with a 3.13 GAA while Allen has 4 wins with a 2.12 GAA in 8 appearances.
Ottawa is 14-50 in their last 64 road games and 16-40 in their last 56 games overall while the lver is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Montreal is 0-4 in their last 4 home games and 1-4 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning percentage below .400 while the over is 8-1 in their last 9 Tuesday games.
I get why the Habs are favored here at home and anyone is usually going to be favored against Ottawa. However, the Sens have actually picked up a couple of nice little wins lately and Montreal has shown us that maybe it wasn’t the coach that needed to be changed as they’ve done nothing under their new bench boss. Ottawa always seems to get upfor these rival games, so give me the Senators and the plus money here.
Chris’s Pick Ottawa +216
