The Carolina Hurricanes and Nashville Predators meet Tuesday in NHL action at the Bridgestone Arena.
The Carolina Hurricanes look for a win after splitting their last eight games. The Carolina Hurricanes are averaging 3.3 goals per game and are scoring on 29 percent of their power play opportunities. Vincent Trocheck leads Carolina with 10 goals, Sebastian Aho has 11 assists and Andrei Svechnikov has 56 shots on goal. Defensively, the Carolina Hurricanes are allowing 2.8 goals per game and are killing 78.8 percent of their opponents power plays. Alex Nedeljkovic has allowed 12 goals on 139 shots faced and James Reimer has allowed 36 goals on 351 shots.
The Nashville Predators look for a win after winning four of their last five games. The Nashville Predators are averaging 2.3 goals per game and are scoring on 18.1 percent of their power play opportunities. Filip Forsberg leads Nashville with nine goals, Roman Josi has 11 assists and Viktor Arvidsson has 72 shots on goal. Defensively, the Nashville Predators are allowing three goals per game and are killing 72.9 percent of their opponents power plays. Juuse Saros has allowed 32 goals on 313 shots faced and Pekka Rinne has allowed 26 goals on 293 shots.
The Hurricanes are 21-8 in their last 29 games playing on 0 days rest and 4-1 in their last 5 Tuesday games. The Predators are 4-1 in their last 5 Tuesday games and 4-1 in their last 5 overall. The under is 3-1-1 in Hurricanes last 5 overall. The under is 6-2-1 in Predators last 9 home games. The Hurricanes are 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in Nashville and 8-1 in the last 9 meetings.
The Carolina Hurricanes are probably the better team here overall, but they're fresh off two physical, tight games against the Panthers, which included an overtime game last night. Could see some tired legs on the Hurricanes side. The Nashville Predators are also playing their best hockey of the season with wins in four of their last five games. The Hurricanes probably should be favored and have owned the Predators over the years, but the scheduling advantage has me leaning toward the home dog.
Randy’s Pick Nashville Predators +110
