The Calgary Flames and the Ottawa Senators meet in NHL action from the Canadian Tire Center on Monday night.
The Calgary Flames will look to build off of a 6-3 win over Ottawa last time out Johnny Gaudreau has 20 points with 9 goals and 11 assists while Elias Lindholm has 19 points with 6 goals and a team-high 13 assists. Matthew Tkachuk has 7 goals with 9 assists while having a team-high 77 shots on goal. Jacob Markstrom continues to start in goal for Calgary, going 8-7 with a pair of shutouts and a 2.87 GAA for the Flames.
The Ottawa Senators will be out to bounce back after a loss to Calgary last time out. Brady Tkachuk has 16 points with 9 goals and 7 assists while Drake Batherson has 15 points with 7 goals and 8 helpers. Thomas Chabot’s got 14 points with a team-high 11 assists and Connor Brown, Josh Norris and Tim Stutzle each have 12 points on the year for the Senators. Matt Murray continues to struggle in goal for Ottawa, going 5-11 with a 3.72 GAA.
Calgary is 2-5 in their last 7 games overall and 15-7 in their last 22 games as a favorite while the under is 5-0-1 in their last 6 games following a win. Ottawa is 3-7 in their last 10 home games and 16-40 in their last 56 games overall while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games as an underdog. Calgary is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
I get why the Sens and the plus money is tempting, but these Senators are the blind squirrel that finds a nut every once in a while, and I think the nut against the Flames went out the window on Saturday and another one is going bye bye on Monday. Look for the Flames to really put the hammer down here and lay it to the Senators. Give me Calgary -1.5 in this one.
