The Philadelphia Flyers and the Buffalo Sabres meet in NHL action from the KeyBank Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Philadelphia Flyers will be out to build on a 3-0 win over Buffalo last time out. James van Riemsdyk leads the Flyers in scoring with 23 points including 9 goals and 14 assists while Kevin Hayes has 16 points with n7 goals and 9 assists and Joel Farabee’s got 15 points with 8 goals and 7 assists. Claude Giroux has 14 points with 13 assists and Jakub Voracek’s got 3 goals with 10 assists for his 13 points. Scott Laughton and Sean Couturier each have 10 points as well on the year for the Flyers. Carter Hart’s made 11 appearances for the Flyers with 5 wins while Brian Elliott’s has 8 appearances with 5 wins and a pair of shutouts along with a 2.03 GAA.
The Buffalo Sabres will try to bounce back from a frustrating loss to Philly last time out. Victor Olofsson has a team-high 15 points with 7 goals and 8 assists while Sam Reinhart has 14 points with 7 goals and 7 assists as well. Jack Eichel also has 14 points coming with 12 assists and Taylor Hall has 12 points with 11 assists. Eric Staal and Rasmus Dahlin each have 8 points as well with Staal putting up 3 goals with 5 assists and Rahlin logging 7 apples. Linus Ullmark looks to be the starter going forward in goal for Buffalo, posting a 5-5 record with a 2.44 GAA and 5 wins in 12 games played.
Philadelphia is 4-1 in their last 5 road games and 29-14 in their last 43 games overall while the over is 6-2-1 in their last 9 road games. Buffalo is 2-7 in their last 9 games overall and 17-37 in their last 54 games as an underdog while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games playing on no rest. Philadelphia is 23-9 in the last 32 meetings between these two teams.
I get the argument that could be made for either side here as Philly is by far the better team, but they’ve also had their hiccups and are getting guys back into the lineup. Buffalo’s argument is that it’s ahrd to beat the same team on a back-to-back twice and the Sabres are due for some offense after being shut out on Saturday, but with this team I have to believe it when I see it as well. Instead, I’m going to side with the under as I’m expecting another hard-hitting and intense defensive battle and one that’s going to be hard-pressed to be decided for a large part of that game.
