The Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks meet in NHL action from the United Center on Sunday night.
The Detroit Red Wings will look to build off of a 5-3 win over the Blackhawks last time out. Bobby Ryan leads Detroit with 12 points split between 6 goals and 6 assists and Dylan Larkin’s right behind with 11 points coming on 4 goals and 7 assists with a whopping 72 shots on goal this season. Anthony Mantha, Robby Fabbri and Filip Hronek each have 9 points with Natha logging 5 goals with 4 assists and Fabbri with 4 goals and 5 apples. Hronek also has 9 assists for the Wings as well this season. Thomas Greiss continues to struggle to find wins at 1-13 with a 3.16 GAA while Jonathan Bernier appears to get support with a 2.63 GAA and a 6-3 mark in 11 appearances this year.
The Chicago Blackhawks will try to bounce back from their frustrating loss to Detroit last time out. Patrick Kane leads Chicago with 31 points including 10 goals and 21 assists while Alex DeBrincat has 21 points with 10 goals and 11 assists. Dominik Kubalik has 17 points with 7 goals and 10 helpers and Mattias Janmark’s got 12 points with 7 goals and 5 helpers. Pius Suter’s got 6 goals with 5 assists for his 11 points and Carl Soderberg and Philipp Kurashev each have 9 points with Soderberg chipping in 4 goals and 5 assists while Kurashev flipped the stats, going 5 goals and 4 assists. Kevin Lankinen continues to be the story in goal for Chicago, posting 8 wins with a shutout and a 2.59 GAA in 14 games played this year while Malcolm Subban is 3-3 with a shutout and a 2.60 GAA in 6 games played.
Detroit is 17-57 in their last 74 games overall and 12-45 in their last 57 road games while the under is 7-0-1 in their last 8 games playing on no rest. Chicago is 8-3 in their last 11 games overall and 12-5 in their last 17 home games while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 games playing on no rest. Detroit is 2-8 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams and 1-4 in the last 5 meetings in Chicago.
I’m running out of excuses to make for Detroit as it’s always they’re going to be good again soon, but soon is not coming fast enough for a lot of Detroit’s fans, especially when you look at what Chicago has done in what’s supposed to be a down year. I’m just not seeing it but I’m seeing development and improvement on a game-to-game basis from Chicago and make no mistake, Kevin Lankinen is a stud. I think this one is all Chicago, so I’ll take the Blackhawks on the puck line here.
