The Los Angeles Kings and the Minnesota Wild meet in NHL action from Xcel Energy Center on Saturday night.
The Los Angeles Kings will try to bounce back from a 3-1 loss to Minnesota last time out. Anze Kopitar leads the Kings in scoring with 21 points including 4 goals and 17 assists while Dustin Brown has 17 points with 11 goals and 6 assists. Drew Doughty’s got 15 points with 4 goals and 11 assists while Alex Iafallo has 5 goals with 8 assists. Jeff Carter’s got 4 goals and 8 assists for his 12 points on the year with L.A.’s lone goal in the loss and Adrian Kempe has 10 points with 4 goals and 6 assists. Cal Petersen has seen 10 appearances in goal for the Kings with 4 wins and a 2.28 GAA while Jonathan Quick has a 2.82 GAA and 5 wins with a pair of shutouts this season.
The Minnesota Wild will be out to add to their win over the Kings on Friday to keep their current five-game winning streak alive. Kirill Kaprizov leads the Wild in scoring with 16 points including 5 goals and 11 assists while Joel Greenway has 12 points with 10 assists. Joel Eriksson Ek has 11 points with 7 goals and 4 assists and Mats Zuccarello has 10 points as well for Minnesota. Ryan Hartman’s got 9 points with 3 goals and 6 apples and after Hartman, another five players for the Wild have 8 points. Kaapo Kahkonen continues to see the bulk of the action in goal for Minny, posting a 7-4 record in 11 appearances while Cam Talbot has 4 wins in 7 appearances this year.
Los Angeles is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall and 19-41 in their last 60 road games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 Saturday games. Minnesota is 4-1 in their last 5 games playing on no rest and 5-0 in their last 5 games overall while the over is 19-5-3 in their last 27 Saturday games. The under is 23-9-4 in the last 36 meetings between these two teams in Minnesota.
This is a hard one to call as both teams are still in really good form despite Minnesota snapping L.A.’s winning streak in Friday’s matchup. With that said, I’m going to side with the under here too, as it’s hard to beat the same team in back-to-back days like this and realistically, after the Wild got out to the hot start in the first, they were quiet over the last 40 minutes while the Kings were quiet almost the whole game. I’ll take the under in another battle here.
