The Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks meet in NHL action from the United Center on Saturday night.
The Detroit Red Wings will look to build on their 5-2 win over Nashville last time out. Bobby Ryan and Dylan Larkin each have 11 points with Ryan logging 5 goals and 6 assists while Larkin’s got 4 goals and 7 helpers. Anthony Mantha and Filip Hornek each have 9 points with Mantha scoring 5 goals and 4 assists while Hornek has 9 apples this season. Tyler Bertuzzi and Robby Fabbri each have 7 points with Bertuzzi logging 5 goals with a pair of assists and Fabbri scoring 4 goals with 3 assists. Thomas Greiss has a paltry 1-13 record with a 3.16 GAA in 14 appearances for Detroit while Jonathan Bernier has won in half of his 10 appearances for Detroit with a 2.59 GAA.
The Chicago Blackhawks will look to add to their 2-0 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets last time out. Patrick Kane leads the Blackhawks in scoring with 31 points coming on 10 goals and 21 assists while Alex DeBrincat has reached 20 points with 9 goals and 11 apples. Dominik Kubalik has 16 points with 6 goals and 10 assists while Mattias Janmark and Pius Suter each have 11 points coming on 6 goals and 5 assists. Kevin Lankinen continues to lead the way in goal for Chicago, going 8-4 with a 2.59 GAA and a shutout this season while Malcolm Subban has been capable in backing up Lankinen with a 3-2 record with a shutout and a 2.13 GAA this year.
Detroit is 16-57 in their last 73 games overall and 11-45 in their last 56 road games while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games following a win. Chicago is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 12-5 in their last 17 home games while the over is 11-3 in their last 14 games sa a home favorite. Detroit is 9-23 in the last 32 meetings between these two teams and 3-13 in the last 16 meetings between the two teams in Chicago.
I almost had to rub my eyes and do a double take because I would have never imagined we’d be at the point of laying this kind of juice with Chicago, especially at the beginning of the season. However, everything has played out how it has and the Blackhawks are rightful favorites here. The issue I have is that this game feels like a one goal game and one that could go to OT, making a puck line or regulation play worthless. Instead, I’ll side with the under, I think both defenses show up in this one and we see a good, old-fashioned Original six style of matchup and at best, we finish with 5 goals. Give me the under here.
