The Colorado Avalanche and the Arizona Coyotes meet in NHL action from the Gila River Arena on Friday night.
The Colorado Avalanche will try to bounce back from a 6-2 loss to Minnesota last time out. Nathan MacKinnon has 18 points with 4 goals and 14 assists while Mikko Rantanen’s got 14 points with 7 goals and 7 assists. Cale Makar has 13 points with 12 assists and Samuel Girard’s got 11 points with 9 assists. Brandon Saad has 6 goals and 4 assists and Joonas Donskoi has 5 goals and 5 assists for their respective 10 point totals on the year. Philipp Grubauer has a 9-5 record with a pair of shutouts and a 2.01 GAA on the year for the Avalanche.
The Arizona Coyotes will try to build off of a 4-3 win over Anaheim last time out. Conor Garland leads the Coyotes in 18 points with 7 goals and 11 assists while Christian Dvorak has 15 points with 9 goals and 6 assists. Phil Kessel, Jakob Chychrun and Nick Schmaltz each have 14 points with Kessel logging 7 goals with 7 assists while Schmalrz is close behind with 6 goals and 8 helpers and Chychrun has 5 goals and 9 assists. Clayton Keller has 13 points with 5 goals and 8 assists for Arizona as well this year. Darcy Kuemper has a 6-7 record with a shutout and a 2.41 GAA on the year.
Colorado is 6-2 in their last 8 games overall and 18-8 in their last 26 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a favorite. Arizona is 1-4 in their last 5 home games and 3-9 in their last 12 Friday games while the over is 11-4 in their last 15 games against a team with a winning record. The favorite is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.
I think you could make a case for either side as the Avs are the better team but the Coyotes are the ones that hold all of the value. However, I just can’t get myself there enough to trust Arizona, even at home as I don’t know if the Coyotes can keep up offensively with the firepower that the Avs bring to the table. I’ll back the Avalanche to win this one in regulation to get the price down on Colorado here.
