The Calgary Flames and the Ottawa Senators meet in NHL action from the Canadian Tire Center on Thursday night.
The Calgary Flames will look to rebound from a 2-1 overtime loss to the Maple LEafs in their last game. Johnny Gaudreau leads the Flames in scoring with 18 points with 9 goals and 9 assists while Elias Lindholm has 5 goals with 13 assists for his 18 points and Sean Monahan’s got 14 points with 3 goals and 11 helpers. Matthew Tkachuk has 14 points with 6 goals and 8 assists and Rasmus Andersson’s got 3 goals with 9 assists. Mark Giordano has 10 points with 2 goals and 8 assists as well to cap off the double-digit point totals up to this point in the year. Jacob Markstrom has an 8-7 mark with a pair of shutouts and a 2.87 GAA on the year.
The Ottawa Senators will try to build on back-to-back wins over Montreal after a 6-5 win over the Habs last time out. Brady Tkachuk has 15 points with 8 goals and 7 assists while Josh Norris and Drake Batherson each have 12 points with Norris logging 8 assists and Batherson logging 5 goals and 7 helpers. Connor Brown’s got 11 points with 4 goals and 7 assists and Thomas Chabot and Tim Stutzle each have 10 points with Chabot putting up 7 assists while Stutzle’s put up 5 goals and 5 assists for his tally. Matt Murray’s started to turn the corner for the Senators in goal, picking up 4 wins with a 3.66 GAA for the Senators this season.
Calgary is 8-2 in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record and 5-2 in their last 7 games being played on no rest while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a road favorite. Ottawa is 15-39 in their last 54 games overall and 2-6 in their last 8 home games while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games as a home underdog.
If the Flames were coming in with a bit of a better rest situation and weren’t on the road, I’d look their way here. Even I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Ottawa’s playing half competent right now and the Senators catch the lames in a favorable spot, off of an overtime game against Toronto with the Senators at home, seems like a decent spot to me. Give me Ottawa and the plus money as my pick for this one.
