The Vegas Golden Knights and the Colorado Avalanche meet in NHL action from the Ball Arena on Monday night.
The Vegas Golden Knights will look to bounce back from a 3-2 loss to the Avs last time out. Mark Stone leads the Golden Knights in scoring with 16 points coming on 4 goals and 12 assists while Max Pacioretty has 13 points with 8 goals and 5 assists. Jonathan Marchessault has 12 points with 5 goals and 7 assists and Alex Tuch and Shea Theodores each have 11 points. William Karlsson has 10 points as well on the year for Vegas. Marc-Andre Fleury has a 7-3 record with a pair of shutouts and a 1.71 GAA for Vegas while Robin Lehner has a 3-1 record with a 2.96 GAA.
The Colorado Avalanche will try to build off of their win over Vegas last time out. Nathan MacKinnon has 18 points with 4 goals and 14 assists while Mikko Rantanen and Cal Makar each have 13 and 12 points respectively with Rantanen logging 7 goals and 6 assists while Makar has 11 assists. Brandon Saad, Samuel Girard and Joonas Donskoi each have 10 points as well for Colorado up to this point in the season. Philipp Grubauer continues to be the workhorse in gpa; fpr the Avs, gpong 9-3 with a pair of shutouts and a 1.67 GAA. .
Vegas is 33-15 in their last 48 games overall and 2-5 in their last 7 road games while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall. Colorado is 5-0 in their last 5 home gams and 6-2 in their last 8 games overall while the under is 21-10 in their last 31 games following a win. Vgeas is 2-6 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.
The over between these two teams make sense considering the transition from a messy situation in an outdoor game to a normal situation in a standard arena and the skaters can get their feet back underneath them. However, I’m going to go contrary of that and suggest that it actually helps the defense. There’s no concerns about if you’re going to have sure footing, no more concerns than a normal game and you’re allowed to play your position without any worries of additional mishaps. I just think the transition back inside helps the defense, so I’ll side with the under.
