The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Carolina Hurricanes meet in NHL action from the PNC Arena on Saturday night.
The Tampa Bay Lightning will look to bounce back from a 6-4 loss to Florida in their last matchup. Brayden Point leads the Lightning in scoring with 16 points with 6 goals and 10 assists while Victor Hedman has 3 goals and 12 assists and Steven Stamkos has 8 goals and 7 assists for their respective 15 points on the year while Ondrej Palat has 12 points with 6 goals and 6 assists. Mikhail Sergachev has 11 points and Anthony Cirelli has 10 points with 4 goals and 6 assists. Andrei Vasilevskiy continues to start the bulk of Tampa Bay’s games in goal, going 9-3 with a 1.92 GAA in 12 starts on the year.
The Carolina Hurricanes will look to build off of a 5-3 win over Chicago on Friday night. Heading into Friday’s matchup, Jordan Staal led the Canes with 15 points coming on 7 goals and 8 assists while Vincent Trocheck, Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov each have 14 points with Trocheck logging 7 goals and 7 assists while Svechnikov has 6 goals with 8 assists and Aho’s got 5 goals and 9 helpers. Dougie Hamilton and Brock McGinn each have 10 points with Hamilton logging 9 assists while McGinn has 7 goals with 3 helpers.
Tampa Bay is 54-21 in their last 75 games overall and 70-33 in their last 103 road games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record. Carolina is 9-3 in their last 12 games overall and 20-7 in their last 27 games playing on no rest while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Tampa Bay is 20-7 in the last 27 meetings between these two teams and 14-6 in the last 20 meetings between these two teams in Carolina.
I’ve gotta be honest, the Hurricanes looked really good in the win over Chicago, but as good as they’ve played, I almost feel like the Hurricanes are a bit over their heads here with how well they’ve been playing and with James Reimer on a back-to-back or Carolina putting the backup in, neither one is ideal against a Tampa Bay team that’s flat out clicking right now. I think the Bolts come into Carolina rested and I think they dispatch of a Carolina team that’s going to be burnt out after this one.
