The Los Angeles Kings and the Arizona Coyotes meet in NHL action from the Gila River Arena on Saturday night.
The Los Angeles Kings will look to build on a 3-2 win over Arizona in their last matchup. Anze Kopitar leads the Kings in scoring with 19 points coming on 4 goals and a team-high 15 assists while Dustin Brown has 14 points, leading the Kings with 8 goals to go along with 6 assists. Drew Doughty’s got 4 goals and 9 assists for his 13 points and Alex Iafallo’s cranked out 10 points with 3 goals and 7 helpers. Adrian Kempe and Jeff Carter also have 9 points apiece as well this season. Jonathan Quick and Cal Petersen have each made 8 appearances, with Quick logging 4 wins and a shutout with a 3.19 GAA while Petersen’s grabbed a pair of wins with a 2.49 GAA.
The Arizona Coyotes will look to bounce back after the disappointing loss to the Kings last time out. Conor Garland leads the Coyotes in scoring with 15 points including 7 goals and 8 assists while Nick Schmaltz has 14 points with 6 goals and 8 helpers and Christian Dvorak’s got 13 points with 7 goals and 6 assists. Clayton Keller and Jakob Chychrun each have 11 points with Keller logging 5 goals with 6 assists while Chychrun has 3 goals and 8 helpers. Phil Kessel also has 9 points with 5 goals and 4 assists this season for the Coyotes. Darcy Kuemper continues to see the bulk of the action in goal for Arizona, posting a 5-6 mark with a shutout and a 2.22 GAA in 13 games played this season.
Los Angeles is 2-5 in their last 7 games overall and 16-40 in their last 56 road games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Arizona is 2-5 in their last 7 home games and 2-6 in their last 8 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 4-1-1 in their last 6 games as a favorite. The road team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
Say what you want about the Kings, I sure have, and been right and wrong quite a few times this season. But the Kings always battle teams hard whether it’s a rebuilding year or not, and I just think they’re getting some decent value against an Arizona team they just put the boots to a few nights ago. The other side of it is I’m not laying this much juice with an Arizona team that struggles to score, as good as the defense is on some nights. Last time I checked, if you don’t score, you don’t win games. I’ll take a shot with Los Angeles and the plus money in this one.
