The Chicago Blackhawks and the Detroit Red Wings meet in NHL action from the Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday night.
The Chicago Blackhawks will be out to build off of a 3-2 overtime win over Detroit in the last meeting between these two teams. Patrick Kane leads the Blackhawks in scoring with 22 points coming on 7 goals and 15 assists while Alex DeBrincat has 16 points with 8 goals and 8 assists. Dominik Kubalik has 5 goals and 9 helpers for his 14 points while Mattias Janmark and Pius Suter each have 10 points with 6 goals and 4 assists. Dylan Strome and Philipp Kurashev each have 8 points as well with 4 goals and 4 assists each. Kevin Lankinen continues to be the anchor in Chicago’s goaltending group with 6 wins in his 11 appearances so far this season with a 2.49 GAA.
The Detroit Red Wings will try to bounce back from yet another frustrating defeat against Chicago last time out. Anthony Mantha, Filip Hronek and Dylan Larkin share the team lead with 9 points apiece, with Mantha putting up 5 goals with 4 assists and Larking logging 4 goals and 5 helpers while Hronek’s chipped in a team-high 9 assists. Bobby Ryan has 4 goals and 4 helpers for his 8 points while Tyler Bertuzzi has 7 points with 5 goals. Thomas Greiss continues to see the majority of the starts between the pipes for Detroit despite a 1-12 record but with a 2.90 GAA on the other side of the coin.
Chicago is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 3-10 in their last 13 road games while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games against a team with a losing record. Detroit is 1-4 in their last 5 home games and 14-54 in their last 68 games overall while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games against a team with a losing record. Chicago is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.
I think you could make a case for either side here as Detroit’s best chances for a win may come against this Chicago team, but the Blackhawks have played well against Detroit in recent meetings. Instead, I’m going to side with the under. We’ve struggled to get to 5 goals in a lot of the recent meetings between these two teams and I think we have another 3-2 battle whichever way you slice it.
