The Winnipeg Jets and the Calgary Flames meet in NHL action from the Scotiabank Saddledome on Tuesday night.
The Winnipeg Jets will look to build on their 4-1 win over the Flames in their last outing on February 4th. Mark Scheifele leads the Jets in scoring with 14 points including 5 goals and 9 assists while Nikolaj Ehlers and Kyle Connor each have 12 points with Ehlers logging 6 goals and 6 assists while Connor has 7 goals and 5 helpers. Blake Wheeler has 3 goals with 8 assists for his 11 points and Andrew Copp has 10 points with 4 goals and 6 assists. Adam Lowry has 9 points with 4 goals and 5 assists and Neal Pionk has 8 assists as well for the Jets this year. Connor Hellebuyck’s started the majority of the games in goal for Winnipeg, going 5-2 with a 2.48 GAA this season.
The Calgary Flames will be looking to build on their 6-4 win over the Edmonton Oilers in their rivalry matchup last time out. Johnny Gaudreau has a team-high 13 points with 7 goals and 6 assists while Elias Lindholm has 12 points with a team-high 9 assists and Sean Monahan has 10 points with 2 goals and 8 helpers this season. Matthew Tkachuk has 9 points with 5 goals and 4 assists and Mikael Backlund has added 7 points with 3 goals and 3 helpers on the year. Jacob Markstrom’s started the bulk of the games for Calgary in goal, going 5-4 with a 2.55 GAA and a pair of shutouts this season.
Winnipeg is 3-9 in their last 12 games as a road underdog and 9-3 in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 road games. Calgary is 11-4 in their last 15 games as a favorite and 7-1 in their last 8 games as a road favorite while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 home games. The home team is 16-7 in the last 23 meetings between these two teams.
The Flames got a nice confidence builder in that win over the Oilers but realistically, the Flames still aren’t a team I’m trying to get behind as they’re still way to reliant on the top part of their lineup and I’m iffy now and again on Jacob Markstrom. Winnipeg’s had a lot of success against Calgary already this season and have outscored the Flames 7-3 in the last two meetings combined. Seems like we’re getting plus money with the better team in better form, and that’s never a bad thing. Give me the Jets and the plus money in this one.
