The San Jose Sharks and the Los Angeles Kings meet in NHL action from the Staples Center on Tuesday night.
The San Jose Sharks will look to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to Anaheim in a shootout last time out. Evander Kane and Logan Couture each have a team-high 8 points, with Couture logging 5 goals while Kane has 5 assists and Tomas Hertl has 7 points with 3 goals and 4 assists. Brent Burns and Ryan Donato each have 6 points with 3 goals and 3 assists while Kevin Labanc and Timo Meier each have 5 points coming on a goal and 4 assists. Devan Dubnyk and Martin Jones have split the goaltending duties, with Dubnyk posting a 2.71 GAA while remaining winless while Jones has 4 wins with a 3.87 GAA this season.
The Los Angeles Kings will look to rebound from a 4-3 loss to Vegas last time out. Anze Kopitar leads the Kings in scoring with 14 points including 12 assists while Dustin Brown has 8 points with 4 goals and 4 assists while Adrian Kempe and Drew Doughty each putting up 7 points with Kempe logging 4 goals while Doughty has 4 assists. Alex Iafallo has 2 goals and 4 assists for his 6 points while Jeff Carter has 6 points of his own with 5 assists. Jonathan Quick has a pair of wins with a 4.05 GAA in goal for L.A. while Cal Petersen has a win with a 2.52 GAA in 6 appearances for L.A. this season.
San Jose is 4-10 in their last 14 games overall and 4-11 in their last 15 road games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a road favorite. L.A. is 0-4 in their last 4 games overall and 3-7 in their last 10 games as an underdog while the under is 7-2 in their last 9 games against a team with a losing record. The under is 12-3-6 in the last 21 meetings between these two teams and 3-1-4 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams in Los Angeles.
If we’re being honest, I don’t want anything to do with either of these two teams as L.A. has cooled off since a decent start to the year while San Jose is still going to provide solid value down the road with the talent on that roster, but until we see it we have to take a wait and see approach. Instead, I’ll side with the under as these rivalry games between the Kings and Sharks tend to be more physical and lower-scoring, so I’ll back the under here.
