The Chicago Blackhawks and the Dallas Stars meet in NHL action from the American Airlines Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Chicago Blackhawks will look to build on their 5-4 win over Carolina last time out. Patrick Kane leads the Blackhawks in scoring with 15 points including 6 goals and 9 assists while Dominik Kubalik has 11 points with 3 goals and 8 assists this season. Alex DeBrincat has 4 goals with 6 assists for his 10 points while Mattias Janmark has 8 points with 4 goals and 4 helpers and Dylan Strome and Pius Suter each have 7 points with 4 goals and 3 assists. Kevin Lankinen’s had all of the success in goal for Chicago this season, going 4-1-3 with a .928 save percentage and a 2.32 GAA.
The Dallas Stars will try to rebound from a 4-3 loss to Columbus in their last outing. Joe Pavelski leads Dallas in scoring with 15 points including 7 goals and 8 assists while Alex Radulov has 11 points with 8 assists and John Klingberg’s got 10 points with 8 assists as well. Denis Gurianov has 9 points with 4 goals and 5 assists and Roope Hintz also has 5 helpers as part of his 7 points this year. Jamie Benn and Miro Heiskanen each have 6 points with Heiskanen’s 6 coming all via assists while Benn has 3 goals and 3 helpers. Anton Khudobin’s started 6 games for Dallas, going 3-2-1 with a .908 save percentage and a 2.51 GAA while Jake Oettinger has a 2-0 mark with an .898 save percentage and a 2.42 GAA this season.
Chicago is 5-12 in their last 17 games overall and 4-18 in their last 22 road games while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record. Dallas is 4-0 in their last 4 home games and 7-1 in their last 8 games as a favorite while the under is 37-18-5 in their last 60 games as a home favorite. The home team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
I’m not trying to lay this kind of number with any team really in the NHL, and Dallas isn’t an exception. The issue here is that the puck line doesn’t hold much value with how well Chicago’s done keeping their games within a goal this season. Instead, I’m going to back the Stars in regulation because Dallas is still playing very well, the style of play that got them to the cup final a few months ago and Chicago’s success has come at home this season. This Blackhawks team is different on the road, and not in a good way. 0-6 combined with regulation and OT losses isn’t going to do much for me. Give me Dallas in regulation here.
