The San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks meet in NHL action from the Honda Center on Saturdsy night.
The San Jose Sharks come into this one looking to build on a 5-4 win over Anaheim last time out. Tomas Hertl, Evander Kane and Logan Couture share the team-high with 7 points apiece, with Kane and Hertl each posting 3 goals and 4 assists while Couture has 4 goals and 3 assists. Brent Burns and Ryan Donato each have 6 points with 3 goals and 3 assists apiece and Kevin Labanc and Timo Meier each have 5 points with a goal and 4 assists. Martin Jones has had the bulk of the success for the Sharks, going 4-2 with a 3.87 GAA this year while Devan Dubnyk is winless in 5 appearances with a 3.23 GAA this season.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to bounce back from their frustrating loss to San Jose last time out. Carter Rowney and Max Comtois each hav 6 points with Rowney logging 6 assists while Comtois has 5 goals. Nicolas Deslauriers, Jakob Silfverberg and Ryan Getzlaf each have 5 points with Deslauriers and Silfverberg each posting 3 goals and 2 assists while Getzlaf has 5 assists this season. John Gibson’s see the bulk of the workload in goal for Anaheim, picking up 4 wins with a pair of shutouts and a 2.48 GAA this season.
San Jose is 4-9 in their last 13 games overall and 4-10 in their last 14 road games while the over is 14-6 in their last 20 games playing on no rest. Anaheim is 1-5 in their last 6 home games and 1-4 in their last 5 games playing on no rest while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games as a favorite. San Jose is 11-3 in the last 14 meetings between these two teams and 8-2 in the last 10 meetings between the two teams in Anaheim.
I have to think that we’re going to see an increased effort on both sides defensively as San Jose won’t want to play from behind in this game and the Ducks aren’t a high scoring team to begin with. I just think this is a 2-1 game or 3-1 with an empty-netter late whichever way you slice it, we have an under here.
