The Edmonton Oilers and the Calgary Flames meet in NHL action from the Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday night.
The Edmonton Oilers will look to build on a 4-2 win over the Ottawa Senators last time out. Connor McDavid leads the Oilers in scoring with 24 points including 8 goals and 16 assists while Leon Draisaitl isn’t far behind with 22 points including 7 goals and 15 assists. Ryan Nugent Hopkins has 10 points with 5 goals and 5 assists and Darnell Nurse and Tyson Barrie each have 9 points with Barrie logging 8 assists and Nurse logging 3 goals and 6 assists. Kailer Yamamoto has 8 points as well with 4 goals and 4 assists this season. Mikko Koskinen’s started all 11 games in goal for Edmonton, going 5-6 with a 3.31 GAA this season.
The Calgary Flames will look to bounce back after a 4-1 loss to Winnipeg last time out. Johnny Gaudreau and Elias Lindholm each have a team-high 11 points with Gaudreau logging 6 goals and 5 assists while Lindholm has a team-high 9 assists and a pair of goals. Matthew Tkachuk and Sean Monahan each have 8 points with Tkachuk logging 5 goals while Monahan has 6 assists and Rasmus Andersson’s chipped in 5 points as well for Calgary this season. Jacob Markstrom’s started the bulk of the games for the Flames, going 4-4 with a pair of shutouts and a 2.37 GAA this season.
Edmonton is 2-5 in their last 7 road games and 2-7 in their last 9 games following a win while the over is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games overall. Calgary is 2-5 in their last 7 games overall and 10-4 in their last 14 games as a favorite while the under is 3-1-1 in their last 5 games overall. The Oilers are 3-7 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams.
This is going to be an absolute war as these two teams do not like each other at all. However, with that said, Edmonton's just in better form compared to Calgary right now and while both of these teams rely on their top lines more than the rest of the team, I trust McDavid and Draisaitl to do more damage than Gaudreau and co. I'll take the value route and take Edmonton and the plus money in this spot.
