The San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks meet in NHL action from the Honda Center on Friday night.
The San Jose Sharks will try to bounce back from a 3-0 loss to the Colorado Avalanche in their last matchup. Tomas Hertl leads the Sharks in scoring with 7 points coming on 3 goals and 4 assists while Logan Couture has 6 points with 3 goals and 3 assists. Kevin Labanc, Evander Kane, Timo Meier and Ryan Donato each have 5 points with Donato posting 3 goals with 2 assists and Kane logging 2 goals with 3 helpers while Labanc and Meier each have 4 assists. Devan Dubnyk and Martin Jones have split the work in goal for San Jose, with Dubnyk yet to post a win with a 3.23 GAA while Jones has 3 wins and a 3.91 GAA this year.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to build on a 3-1 win over the Kings in their last matchup. Carter Rowney, Nicolas Deslauriers, Jakob Silfverberg and Ryan Getzlaf all have 5 points with Rowney and Getzlaf each posting 5 assists while Delauriers and Silfverberg each logging 3 goals and a pair of assists. Danton Heinen and Max Comtois each have 3 goals and an assist as well this year. John Gibson has a 4-6 record with a 2.34 GAA in 10 starts for the Ducks this year.
San Jose is 3-9 in their last 12 games overall and 3-10 in their last 13 road games while the under is 10-3 in their last 13 games against a team with a losing record. Anaheim is 1-4 in their last 5 home games and 3-9 in their last 12 games as a favorite while the under is 8-1-1 in their last 10 games overall. San Jose is 10-3 in the last 13 meetings between these two teams and 10-3 in the last 13 meetings between these two teams as well.
I get why the Ducks would be favored as the home team, but the issue I’m having otherwise is that the Ducks just have serious issues offensively as more often than not, Anaheim’s been held to 2 goals or less and that’s just not going to cut it on most nights. San Jose is a better team than what we saw last season and I just think that we’re getting a good price with what I think is the better team so I’ll take it and side with San Jose in this one.
