The Boston Bruins and the Philadelphia Flyers meet in college basketball action from Wells Fargo Center on Thursday night.
The Boston Bruins will look to build on their 4-3 shootout win over the Flyers last time out. Patrice Bergeron leads the Bruins in scoring with 15 points coming on 6 goals with 9 assists while Brad Marchand is right behind with 14 points, just one assist behind Bergeron with 6 goals and 8 helpers. Charlie McAvoy and Nick Ritchie each have 9 points with McAvoy logging 8 assists while Ritchie has 4 goals and 5 assists. David Krejci has 8 assists for the B’s and David Pastrnak’s made quite the return to Boston’s lineup with 7 points in three games, posting 5 goals and a pair of assists. Tuukka Rask’s started the majority of Boston’s games so far with a 4-2 record with a 2.57 GAA and Jaroslav Halak has a 3-1 mark with a 1.72 GAA this season.
The Philadelphia Flyers will look to rebound from their loss to the Bruins in their last matchup. James van Riemsdyk leads the Flyers with 15 points coming on 5 goals with 10 assists while Jakub Voracek and Kevin Hayes each have 11 points with Hayes logging 6 goals with 5 assists while Voracek has 3 goals and 8 helpers this season. Claude Giroux has 10 points including 9 assists while Joel Farabee has 9 points with 6 goals and 3 assists and Travis Konecny has 8 points with 5 goals and 3 helpers. Carter Hart has started the majority of Philadelphia’s games in goal with 4 wins and a 3.42 GAA in 8 appearances this season.
Boston is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall and 6-1 in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall. Philadelphia is 35-16 in their last 51 games overall and 28-11 in their last 39 home games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a home underdog. Boston is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
I swung and missed with the Flyers in their last game against the B’s, but I’m clearly a glutton for punishment because I’m going back to the well again here. The Bruins have won all 3 games against the Flyers this season and I think that’s stuck in Philadelphia’s craw right now, as well as the fact that the Flyers nearly had that game in hand before letting it slip away in the 3rd and OT. I think the Flyers will rebound here, so I’ll take the Flyers and the plus money in this spot.
