The Nashville Predators and the Florida Panthers meet in NHL action from the BB&T Center on Thursday night.
The Nashville Predators will look to bounce back from a 5-2 loss to the Lightning in their last game. Filip Forsberg and Viktor Arvidsson each have 6 points with Forsberg logging a team-high 4 goals while Arvidsson has a team-high 4 assists. Mikael Granlund has 5 points with 3 goals and a pair of assists while Nick Cousins and Roman Josi each have a goal and 3 assists for their four points this season. Matt Duchene, Erik Haula and Ryan Johansen each have 3 points this season while Ryan Ellis has a goal and two assists. Juuse Saros has started 6 games for the Preds in goal, going 3-3 with a 2.82 GAA while Pekka Rinne has one win with a 3.31 GAA this season.
The Florida Panthers will look to build on a 3-2 win over Detroit in their last game. Patric Hornqvist, Jonathan Huberdeau, Aleksander Barkov and Carter Verhaeghe each have 7 points with Verhaeghe and Hornqvist each logging a team-high 5 goals while Barkov has 2 goals with 5 assists and Huberdeau has 6 assists. Keith Yandle and Anthony Duclair each have 6 points with Duclair logging 6 assists while Yandle has 2 goals and 4 assists. Aaron Ekblad also has 2 goals and 3 assists for the Panthers this season. Sergei Bobrovsky has a 3-0 record with a 2.87 GAA in goal for the Panthers this year while Chris Driedger has 2 wins with a 1.95 GAA on the year.
Nashville is 2-5 in their last 7 games overall and 0-6 in their last 6 road games while the over is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games as an underdog. Florida is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 4-1 in their last 5 home games while the over is 33-16-3 in their last 52 home games. Nashville is 1-4 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
I’m a bit concerned as to why the line is this low and why it’s moving in Nashville’s direction and maybe I’m being trapped, but if it’s a trap so be it. The Florida Panthers are on fire out of the gate winning five of their first six games of the year and picking up points in all six games so far while Nashville’s had success at home but haven’t been able to transfer it over to the road. I also think Nashville still has some goaltending issues that need to be sorted and on the road against that red-hot Panthers team isn’t a great spot to do it. I’ll take the Panthers at home with the cheap price.
